Production Sharing Agreement Kurdistan

Opublikowano: niedziela, kw. 11, 2021

Development of phase 1A sarta in Iraq`s Kurdistan region continues, reports Genel Energy, a new block partner. Genel has acquired a 30% stake in the contract to share the sarta production of the operator Chevron, which retains 50%. Genel has also acquired a 40% stake in Chevron in the Qara Dagh block, which it will retain at 40% through a carry agreement with Chevron. Genel acquired Sarta`s stake by agreeing to pay 50% of the development costs on the ground until it reached a production target plus a success fee on the basis of a production stone. This graph shows how KRG`s production sharing contracts work. In Chapter 10 of the Kurdish Oil and Gas Act, production-sharing contracts establish a slippery scale for royalties and profits. There is a standard charge of 10 per cent of the total oil produced, and contractors are entitled to a maximum of 40 per cent of the oil produced to offset their costs. The contracts offer an initial exploration period of five years, with the option of extending the contracts to seven years. When a discovery is made, a 20-year period for further development is negotiated with new extensions. Drilling of a third well is expected to begin within 12 months of the start of production, probably in 2020.

Production capacity can be increased. In Phase 1A, the final investment decision that was made in February, the companies will again complete the Sarta-2 well, put the Sarta-3 well on production and build a central processing plant with a capacity of 20,000 b/d of oil. The two wells sank approximately 7,500 b/d of oil during the test. The first is lower Jurassic Mus-Adayah. The simplicity, transparency and fairness of these treaties have been recognized and welcomed throughout the World Energy Community. A report by Dr Pedro van Meurs, a global expert on oil taxation, concluded that KRG`s production-sharing contracts encouraged oil companies to develop optimally and better serve Iraq`s national interests than the Iraqi Oil Ministry`s risky services contracts. The development of Sarta Phase 1A in the Kurdistan region of Iraq continues, reports Genel Energy PLC, London, a new bloc partner.
